MINING

Mining plays a very important role in the global mineral economy, producing a handsome amount of the world's copper and cobalt; supply of platinum, chromium, and diamonds; some gold, manganese, and uranium, coal, iron ore, uranium, platinum, lead, zinc, and cobalt.; Minerals account for at least far more than half of export earnings.

  

The economy of Zambia is heavily dependent on one principal mineral export are seriously affected by price declines in the world market. Recent decades have seen destabilizing shifts in the price of Zambia's copper, Guinea's bauxite, and Togo's phosphate.  

  

Way forward  

  • Put in place policies for monitoring the activities pertaining to monies, production and the involvement of mega mining firms in national development projects.

  

  • Establish mineral processing plants while reducing the export of raw minerals by a substantial percent.

  

  • Improve the quality of mineral information

  

  • Establish and enforce principles of value addition and a well balanced policy on investment,

  

  • The development of n mining will obviously benefit her peoples from global contribution of minerals.
